A place to reflect around a shared desire for something softer, more spacious, and more sustaining.
I started The Good Trade in 2014 while completing my graduate studies in social entrepreneurship and sustainability. As I learned more about the systems shaping what we buy and how we live, I began to see more clearly the hidden costs—to people, to the planet, and often to our own wellbeing.
I kept returning to this question: How might our everyday choices become expressions of care and compassion for others, for the earth, and for ourselves?
What began as a side project quickly found resonance. I wasn’t alone—especially among women, there was a growing longing for slower, more grounded ways of living.
The Good Trade is a space for that: a place to reflect around a shared desire for something softer, more spacious, and more sustaining.
Now, we’re bringing that mission to Substack because we want to offer a space for deeper conversations, community connection, and new editorial formats shaped by what matters most to you.
Warmly,
AmyAnn Cadwell
